POWELL PARK MARINA
...on beautiful Lake Sam Rayburn

Information about the Corp Park
As of March 1, 2005 Powell Park Marina has taken over the Corp portion of Powell Park. In the past years Powell Park Marina was a private vendor located inside of the Corp of Engineers Park. With recent budget cuts the Corp has closed several of their parks and some boat ramps on Sam Rayburn and Powell Park was one of the parks that was up for closure. In November 2004 the Corp talked with us about taking over the entire park and the boat ramp. Long story short! Without Powell Park and the boat ramp there would be no Powell Park Marina. So we now operate and manage the entire park including the boat ramp. We can take your reservations for all the R.V. sites and tent camping for the entire park. You no longer have to call the Corp's reservation service and talk to someone in Arizona or wherever they are located. You can call us, we live here!!! You can make your reservations as far in advance as you would like or short notice based on availability. We are here to help you as much as possible. We have posted a map on our web site to help direct you to different loops in the park and site numbers. We have named the loops better to describe their locations. The loops are: loop "A", loop "B", loop "C", loop "D", and loop "E". We hope this will eliminate some of the confusion. If you have any questions call us, remember we live here!

Information about the boat ramp
We are charging a fee to use the ramp just like the Corp did. This is not something new for the Corp to turn ramps over to private marinas to manage and maintain, it's just new to Sam Rayburn. The counties and the Forrest Service manage and maintain several of the boat ramps on Rayburn, this is how the ramps are kept open. Just like the county ramps and the Forrest Service ramps we will not honor the Corp of Engineers launch permit. Their permit will only be valid at their ramps and our permits will only be valid at Powell Park Marina's ramp. If you ONLY lauch at POWELL PARK MARINA it will not be necessary to purchase a Corp launch permit, but if you use any of the Corp's ramps you will need to purchase their permit. The cost for our permits is basically the same amount the the Corp was charging. The yearly permit cost is $30.00 per year and renews on March 1st every year. The daily permit costs $3.00 per day. If you need several days we will be able to write you a pass for the number of days needed. You will be able to purchase any of the permits at the park store and there is also an honor box with drop envelopes available at the boat ramp. We are trying to make it as convenient as possible. Sorry! We will not be able to accept the golden age pass. Only the Corp of Engineers will honor the golden age passes. I hope we have answered some of your questions about the new changes. We want evreyone to understand we not only will be collecting the fees for the camping and launching, but we have also assumed all of the expenses of operating the facility. The best part of that is, the money will stay here to operate and maintain this park and not go into a general fund. Those of you that know us, know that we have tried hard for the past twelve years to keep the park clean and in good shape, a place you want to bring your family and friends to have a good time. So now we just have a bigger park to keep and a lot more good time to have!!! Thanks for all your past, present, and future support we appreciate everyone who has supported us in this venture. If you have any questions just give us a call and we will try to help!

Thanks,
Stan, Linda, and all of our staff at Powell Park Marina
